About us

We are building the health tools we wish existed.

Tether Health Group is a small team building digital health tools that treat people as adults: private by default, plain-spoken, and honest about what software can and cannot do.

Why we exist

The gap is not information.

Almost everyone who smokes knows it is harmful. Almost everyone living with prediabetes has been told to change their diet. Information is not what is missing.

What is missing is support at the moment it matters — the ninety seconds when a craving peaks, the evening a plan falls apart, the week after a setback when the easiest thing is to stop trying. Most health software is built for the calm moments and abandons people in the hard ones.

We build for the hard ones. That means tools that work offline and one-handed, records that survive a bad week, and a route to a real person when software is not enough.

What we believe

Four positions, held firmly.

  • Shame is not a clinical intervention

Broken streaks, red warnings and progress that resets to zero are design choices, and they are the wrong ones. People who are already struggling do not need an app that agrees with their worst opinion of themselves.
  • Health data is not inventory

We do not run ads, we do not sell health data, and we do not build a business that would one day need us to. The privacy posture is not a policy bolted on afterwards — it decides what we are allowed to build.
  • Plain language is a safety feature

If someone cannot understand what they are consenting to, they have not consented. Every screen is written to be read by a person having a difficult day, not by a lawyer.
  • Software is not a clinician

Our tools educate and support self-management. They do not diagnose, treat or prescribe, and when someone needs a person, the right answer is to route them to one — quickly and without friction.

“Small steps, practical support, and no judgment — whenever you are ready.”

The promise on the first screen of BreatheFree, and the standard every product we build has to meet.

How we work

Slowly, and in the open.

  1. 01Design the whole experience firstBreatheFree was designed and approved as a complete 28-screen journey before implementation began. Designing the hard screens last is how the hard screens end up bad.
  2. 02Build the safeguards before the featuresConsent, notification privacy, export and deletion are not a compliance phase at the end. They constrain what gets built in the first place.
  3. 03Say what is true about our own statusWe describe 10 health areas on this site, and exactly one of them is in development. We would rather be unimpressive than misleading.
  4. 04Review before release, not afterClinical, privacy, security and accessibility review are release gates. No product ships to people because a deadline arrived.
